Considered one of the great masterworks of German silent cinema, Die Nibelungen: Siegfried was produced in Germany in 1924 and directed by the renowned Fritz Lang. This vintage original still photograph was printed for the film's original U.S. release from the original German glass negative. The image depicts Kriemhild with sword in hand. This vintage original still photograph is in near fine condition with some stains on the right side of the still and a very small chip on the center of the bottom white border, which does not extend onto or detract from the image. Very rare still.
Die Nibelungen is a duology of silent fantasy films created by Austrian director Fritz Lang in 1924--Die Nibelungen: Siegfried and Die Nibelungen: Kriemhild's Revenge. They were co-written by his then-wife Thea von Harbou, based upon the epic poem "Nibelungenlied," written around AD 1200.
Die Nibelungen: Siegfried; UFA (Germany); 1924; dir: Fritz Lang; cast: Paul Richter, Gertrud Arnold, Margarete Schon, Hanna Ralph.
