Vintage original 11 x 14 in. (27.9 x 35.6 cm.) U.S. lobby card, R-1922, very fine- condition.
The story of Enoch Arden was originally filmed as a two-reel production by the legendary D.W. Griffith in 1911. Four years later, director Christy Cabanne, a Griffith protegee, filmed this four-reel version which was supervised by Griffith and featured Alfred Paget in the title role. This beautiful color-tinted lobby card is from the film's 1922 theatrical re-release which was issued under the title The Fatal Marriage. The image depicts an interior long shot of handsome Walter Fenn (Wallace Reid) as he pleased with the pretty widow, Annie Lee (Lillian Gish), whose husband (Enoch Arden) was lost at sea. Both actors are seen wearing period costumes and a wooden baby's cradle is seen next to Miss Gish in front of the large fireplace. This vintage original lobby card is in very fine- condition with a small chip on the top right corner, 2 pinholes in the top portion of the left border below the top corner, 1 pinhole in the bottom left corner and a small line of foxing along the bottom border near the left corner.
