Vintage original 11 x 14 in. (27.9 x 35.6 cm.) U.S. lobby card, good condition.
This beautiful lobby card is from the popular silent film drama/romance Forever, produced in 1921 by Paramount Pictures, starring Wallace Reid. This film was based on the novel Peter Ibbeston by George L. Du Maurier and also upon the play of the same name by John Nathaniel Raphael. The sepia-tinted image features a close medium shot of star Wallace Reid (as Peter Ibbetson) reclining on a sofa as he shares a tender moment with Mimsi (Elsie Ferguson). The caption in the lower left reads, "All my life is yours now." The border artwork features a romantic image of Ibbetson kissing Mimsi in front of a moonlit window.
This vintage original lobby card has a sepia tint and is in good condition with a large chip at the upper right and a smaller chip, a 1.25 in. crease and a 0.5 in. tear on the lower portion of the right outer white border. There is a medium-sized chip at the lower left corner and a small chip at the lower right corner. There is a small "V"-shaped tear in the lower border approximately 3 in. to the left of center and several light 0.75 in. creases in the lower outer white border on the right side. There is a 1.25 in. vertical tear starting in the top outer white border and extending into the "R" in "Reid" and between the "P" and "E" in "Peter" in the credits area. The flaws are primarily in the outer white borders and do not affect the image quality of this beautiful silent film lobby card in any way.
This film was remade in 1935 as Peter Ibbeston by director Henry Hathaway and features Gary Cooper in the title role.
Forever; Paramount Pictures; 1921; dir: George Fitzmaurice; cast: Wallace Reid, Elsie Ferguson, Montagu Love, George Fawcett, Dolores Cassinelli, Paul McAllister, Elliott Dexter, Barbara Dean, Nell Roy Buck, Charles Eaton, Jerome Patrick.
