Vintage original 27 x 41 in. (68.6 x 104.1 cm.) U.S. ones-sheet poster, Style B, stone lithograph, linen-backed, very fine condition.
Director King Vidor's epic production of a drama/romance centered on World War I was the highest-grossing film of the entire Silent Era outside of D.W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation. The artwork on this Style B one-sheet features the most beautiful image of the four different one-sheets that were created for this film and features a close image of the beautiful young French woman Melisande (Renée Adorée) holding her beloved American soldier, James Apperson (John Gilbert), upon his return to France after the great war's end. The striking colors and amount of detail (down to the tears streaming from her eyes) makes this a truly magnificent poster to behold.
The Big Parade; Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer; 1925; dir: King Vidor; cast: John Gilbert, Renée Adorée, Hobart Bosworth, Claire McDowell, Claire Adams, Robert Ober, Tom O'Brien, Karl Dane, Rosita Marstini.
