*"Suds is a 1920 American silent comedy film directed by John Francis Dillon and starring Mary Pickford. The film is based on the 1904 English stage play "'Op o' Me Thumb," a one-act work first produced in London and presented the following year in New York with Maude Adams, a curtain raiser for her appearance in Peter Pan."

*"The working titles for the film were The Duchess of Suds and Op O' Me Thumb. Three cameras were used in the shooting of this production, which was awarded the Board of Merit of the Motion Picture Theatrical Association's first seal of approval. Contemporary sources state that the harsh conclusion generated such widespread criticism that a second, happy ending was filmed in which Amanda lives happily on Lady Burke's estate with Lavender and Ben."

*"A London laundress attempts to rise above her station in order to capture the love of a wealthy young man, thus missing out on the truer love of one of her own class."
