Vintage original 8 x 10 in. US single-weight glossy proof photograph from the lost silent film drama/romance, A SAINTED DEVIL, released in 1924 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Joseph Henabery. 
 
The image features an interior long shot inside of a church during the wedding ceremony of Don Alonzo Castro (Rudolph Valentino) and Julietta (Helena D'Algy) as they kneel at the steps in front of their priest (William Betts) while an altar boy and their assembled guests watch the nuptials. This proof photograph features thin, uneven black borders instead of the traditional thicker white borders with minor credits from the film etched into the negative and printed in the top border. It is in very good+ condition.

*”The Dec 1924 Photoplay announced that Joseph Hensbery was directing Rudolph Valentino and Nita Naldi in The Scarlet Power, the working title. Various contemporary sources indicated that principal photography began in late May and continued until late summer of 1924. Items in the 19 Jun 1924 FD and 12 Jul 1924 Exhibitors Trade Review stated that the wedding scene was shot at the Paramount Pictures studios in Long Island, NY, but exteriors were filmed at Farmingdale, Long Island. The 1 Aug 1924 FD named Tammany Young and William Ricciardi among the cast, but their participation in the final film could not be determined.
 
On the night of the wedding of Don Alonzo Castro and Julietta, El Tigre--prompted by Alonzo's former sweetheart, Carlotta--robs the Castro estate and kidnaps Julietta. Alonzo goes to her rescue, sees a woman in Julietta's bridal veil yield to El Tigre's advances, and leaves embittered against all women. Hoping to have revenge on El Tigre, Alonzo haunts a cafe frequented by the bandit and finally is rewarded with his presence. They fight, and El Tigre gets the upper hand but is killed by Don Luis his enemy. Carmelita, a dancer, reveals that Alonzo mistook Carlotta for Julietta, who is safe in a convent.
